Lire l'articleSince the dawn of mankind, precious metals have captivated by their brilliance and rarity. Symbols of wealth, status and creativity, they occupy a central place in the art of jewellery. More than just materials, these metals carry with them a profound history and a cultural impact that spans the ages. They bear witness to the heritage of ancient civilisations, the ingenuity of craftsmen and the quest for timeless beauty. These precious metals, which cannot be produced by man, are natural chemical elements extracted from specific deposits.L’histoire des métaux précieux dans la joaillerie est un enchevêtrement de traditions anciennes et d’innovations techniques. Des bijoux sacrés des pharaons d’Égypte aux créations modernes des ateliers d’aujourd’hui, ces métaux occupent une place incontournable dans la confection de bijoux et d'objets d’art.
At Lepage, we select exceptional metals to create jewellery that combines refinement and durability. Gold and platinum, each with its own unique characteristics, are at the heart of our creations. These precious metals are much more than just materials; they embody values of quality, tradition and innovation. Thanks to their timeless beauty and durability, they enable us to create pieces that are both elegant and robust, designed to stand the test of time while remaining true to the principles of responsible jewellery.
Gold, the precious metal par excellence, is at the heart of Maison Lepage's creations. It has been used for thousands of years, and its beauty and rarity are its hallmarks. 750 thousandths gold is the ideal alloy for jewellery, made up of 75% pure gold and 25% other metals such as silver, copper or palladium. This combination creates the white, yellow or pink gold that sets our jewellery apart. Gold is characterised by its malleability, allowing it to be worked into complex shapes. What's more, we support a responsible approach by buying back gold to create upcycled gold jewellery, in line with the principles of the Responsible Jewelry Council.
Classic and timeless, yellow gold is one of the most sought-after metals in jewellery for its warm, luminous colour. It is produced by alloying pure gold with metals such as copper and silver, giving it both strength and natural lustre. Malleable, it can be used to create jewellery with refined, detailed shapes. Resistant to oxidation, yellow gold retains its brilliance over the years, making it an ideal choice for long-lasting, elegant pieces. Its warm glow and timeless beauty make it a favourite for creations that span generations.
White gold, elegant and modern, is an alloy of pure gold and metals such as palladium, silver or nickel, giving it a brilliant silvery hue. Very popular in jewellery, it combines solidity and refinement.
All our white gold jewellery contains a verified and controlled percentage of palladium, guaranteeing increased durability and intense brilliance. Maison Lepage ensures the best possible alloy to guarantee exceptional quality.
Resistant to wear and oxidation, white gold preserves its brilliance, ideal for long-lasting, elegant jewellery.
Rose gold, with its warm, delicate hue, is an alloy of pure gold and copper, giving it an elegant, modern colour. Highly prized in jewellery, it has a romantic softness that is both resistant and long-lasting.
Its warm hue is particularly beautiful on dark and tanned skin, enhancing its natural radiance. Rose gold adds a unique, luminous touch, ideal for refined, timeless creations.
Platinum, a rare and highly prized metal, is distinguished by its timeless silvery lustre. Rarer than gold, it offers discreet elegance and exceptional resistance to wear and corrosion, never tarnishing over time.
However, because of its malleability (950 thousandths), platinum does not lend itself to all creations. At Lepage, we prefer to use platinum for appropriate designs, avoiding the use of large-diameter stones to guarantee solidity and longevity. The Cléo ring is a perfect example of these qualities, combining refinement and durability.
At Lepage, gold and platinum occupy a central place in our creations, synonymous with elegance, refinement and durability. These precious metals, chosen for their timeless beauty and exceptional qualities, perfectly embody our commitment to offering pieces of fine jewellery. However, other materials such as silver, palladium and titanium are also highly prized in jewellery for their unique characteristics. Each of these metals brings a different dimension to creations, whether it's the brilliance of silver or the lightness of titanium. Although not part of our selection, these metals demonstrate the diversity and wealth of options available in the world of jewellery. Each choice is dictated by personal preference and design requirements, allowing for a multitude of styles to suit all tastes.
